We had this whole moving thing planned out: We had a truck coming in on Friday night; we had friends who were going to help us load the truck up while it was double parked; all the boxes were pretty much packed. Thursday night we found out that the truck was not going to show up. Peaches called her family and less than a couple of hours later we had a new plan. My father-in-law and uncle-in-law came to our rescue and drove up from Texas (a 14 hour trip) and loaded up a trailer and we drove back down on Saturday. They are pretty much our heroes now. With the help of some friends we got things loaded up and tied down to an open trailer in 2 hours. We just got all of our stuff in storage at the in-law's house today. Now we can enjoy visiting with the relatives.
Well... Tuesday I have to go in to the dentist to have some tooth problem I have looked at. I have heard that the dentists in Japan take their time fixing things, and even filling a cavity takes a few visits. The conventional advice is to get things done in your home country. Of course, I only thought of this like three weeks before I leave for Japan. My old dentist here in Texas has me squeezed in for an appointment, but I am pretty sure that it will take at least 2 appointments. Here is hoping that I can get things taken care of toothache.
We found out the cats pretty much hate riding in the car. They spent most of the time sleeping and/or meowing. Both cats developed a little white crust around their tiny noses. Chairman Meow freaked out when he looked out the window. Now though they are spending their days exploring a new house, and they haven't broken any thing, yet which is good.
The next few weeks might be spotty for posts. I am using dial-up which makes me feel like I'm in high school again. We leave for Japan on the 23 I believe, and we probably wont have our super-fast Japanese DSL hooked up for a couple of weeks. -It's a 12 mega-bit line. I heart Japan!- Plus we are spending 3 or 4 days in Tokyo for orientation. So if you don't hear from me much between now and then don't be surprised. Certainly don't expect any picture from me while on dial-up here in Texas.
