Matsuri

Tonight we went a matsuri (festival) here in Takefu with Peaches' supervisor Dokuni-sensei. There was plenty of good food. This guy is making okonomiyaki of some sort. It was delicious. Okonomiyaki is kind of like an omelet. It has cabbage -lots of cabbage- eggs, corn, and sauce. All of that, with a large portion of mayo on top. Most things in Japan come with a hunk of mayo on top.

Birthday presents

My birthday was last Monday, and I think it was the most boring birthday ever. Probably I did a lot to facilitate that like moving around the world from all my friends and family / not telling anyone I knew here it was my birthday and things like that. But the one really exciting thing is when I got home from a meeting at 11 pm these flowers and purse were sitting outside my apartment door! I was really surprised and loved the gifts. My supervisor at Kono JHS, Miuki Dokuni got them for me. So that made a really fun end to a normal day.

Photos and more photos.

Hey the first thing you might notice about this post is that there are no photos, but if you look at the links on the right you will see that there is a link for our photos. Please take a look, because now a days I'm having trouble finding the time to sit down and write about Japan, but I'm taking plenty of photos.
