Men's Hair

Men have crazy hair here in Japan. On average guys spend tons of time fixing their hair. I realize this is vague. I have no actual research or facts about the specifics. I just know when I go to the drug store there is a whole aisle of styling products just for men. The result of all this time and product that you put into your hair everyday is worthwhile I suppose because you look very cool.

This is the funniest add I've seen about hair stuff. Why would you want your hair to be moving rubber, though? Is that a selling feature? And can people read enough English to know what that means? I hope not, because rubbery hair seems weird.

Lunch

I went to lunch with Dokuni sensei on Monday. This is a picture of unagi - eel steamed with rice. We went to this lil Japanese food restaurant called Momen. It's pretty well known in the area for serving fresh food with no additives or bad things. They also have lots of delicious and healthily (is that a word?) prepared vegetables. When we got there we noticed a TV camera. Apparently they were doing a show about people whose dreams come true and this lady always wanted to have a restaurant, and now she does. Hence the filming of it. I might be on TV as a result. Probably I will just be in the background because when they interviewed me I wasn't really able to put together coherent sentences in Japanese. I'm going to try and record it on my VCR.

This is a beautiful tea pot and cup. I love Japanese ceramics, by the way.

Michiko's Birthday

Our friend Michiko (in the center) had a birthday. So did Celeste and me so we went to dinner together. We ate Chiense food and sat around till they kicked us out. Actually, no one would ever be as rude to suggest that you leave a restaurant after closing time, but when you're the only people left and you stick out as being forgein it's not a good idea to overstay your welcome. Especially when the place has cheap takeout!

Nicola made a feast of a chocolate cake. It had three different types of rich, delicous, gooey chocolate.

Flowers and Watermelon

I just wanted to put this picture up here because I like it. Me and Rob ate lots of watermelon while we were in Texas. It is prohibitively expensive in Japan. We could never afford to eat such a luxuriously large piece of this fruit here.

Also, I got loads of flowers for my birthday. and a stylish vase to go along with the flowers. I was pretty happy.
