Origami

Some of you will remember helping fold 1000 gold paper cranes for our wedding. They were so beautiful and made with tons of love, and a great start to our marriage. This is one of my favorite pictures from the wedding... You can see the origami cranes in the background.

Anyways, the other day I was in Imadatte, an area of our city, watching an amazing Taiko performance by Kodo. They were hot. I saw these cranes and thought they were also beautiful.

This is a picture of the cranes close up so you can tell what the mural is actually composed of.

Halloween Party

October has come and gone without me posting about my Halloween potluck party. A bunch of English speakers got together in Takefu to celebrate the day of pumpkins and candy. The kids in the group bobbed for apples. They are all really cute so I'll show you their picture.

Then we played a game that is popular in Europe with bread on strings. In Japan they play the game with stuff in bags, or wrapped in plastic. Basically you try to bite the bag/candy/bread until it either falls off in the case of Japan, or it is all gone if are eating an actual piece of bread or cake. It's further complicated because the bags are tied to a rope that is being swung around. It's a fun game.
